Cyprus Football Association hosts three-day refereeing seminar
The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) is conducting a three-day refereeing seminar as part of the CY CORE 2025/26 program, phase two. The event involves sixteen participants, specifically eight referees and eight assistant referees, supported by eight mentors. Kyros Vassaras, a UEFA instructor and member of the UEFA Referee Development Committee, serves as the central trainer, joined by Cypriot instructors Costas Kapitanis and Michalis Sotiriou, alongside program organizer Angela Kyriakou. International referee Vasilis Fotias was invited to share his professional experience with the participants. The program operates under the supervision of Refereeing Committee Chairman Antonio Damato. Activities include physical fitness testing, UEFA 20 Screening exams, and theoretical coursework. The seminar follows the model of UEFA's Centre of Refereeing Excellence (CORE) to prepare young officials for high-level matches. The event was formally announced on March 27, 2026.
