Court reserves ruling on disclosure of confidential report in Stylianos case

The Nicosia District Court held a session on Friday regarding the trial of the death of 14-year-old Stylianos. Defense attorneys requested the disclosure of a specific report dated November 30, 2020, arguing it is essential for the case. The defense maintains that one of the report's authors is scheduled to testify as a prosecution witness, and withholding the document violates the principle of equality of arms. Prosecutor Elena Konstantinou opposed the request, asserting that the document constitutes internal communication between investigators and the Legal Service and is protected by confidentiality privilege. Defense lawyers, including Viktor Akamas, filed written arguments in support of the disclosure. The court has reserved its decision on the matter. The defense emphasized that the prosecution has a duty to provide all relevant material, regardless of whether it supports their own position.
