Cyprus Foreign Minister warns citizens regarding travel to high-risk regions
Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos has issued a formal appeal for citizens to strictly adhere to existing travel advisories. Speaking at the Presidential Palace, the Minister expressed concern over an increasing trend of travel to regions currently designated as high-risk. Kombos emphasized that while previous government-led repatriation operations from such areas were completed successfully, the state will not conduct similar rescue operations in the future. He explicitly stated that future travel choices are the sole responsibility of the individual traveler. The Minister noted that due to the current volatility in the broader region, accurate forecasting of security developments is not possible. He urged citizens to prioritize these official warnings to avoid becoming stranded. The government confirms that the window for state-assisted evacuations has permanently closed.
