Ukraine and Saudi Arabia sign defence cooperation agreement
President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Saudi Arabia on Thursday and Friday to hold meetings with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The two nations signed a framework agreement on defence cooperation aimed at establishing future contracts, technological exchanges, and investments. Zelensky highlighted Ukraine's expertise in drone technology and air defence integration, noting that over 220 Ukrainian experts have been deployed to the Middle East this month to advise on intercepting drone attacks. In return, Ukraine is seeking assistance with air defence missiles to support its war effort against Russia. This trip occurred amid reports that the United States might redirect munitions intended for Ukraine to the Middle East due to regional tensions involving Iran. Zelensky emphasized the importance of global energy security, which relies on stable markets in the Gulf. Ukraine is also actively engaging with various Gulf states to provide military consultation services in exchange for financial and technological support.
