Cyprus parliament passes law to establish National Center for Clinical Documentation and Quality

The Parliament of Cyprus has officially passed legislation to establish the National Center for Clinical Documentation and Quality of Health Services. This body will function as an independent mechanism tasked with creating and implementing uniform, evidence-based clinical protocols and guidelines. Its primary responsibilities include evaluating health service quality, providing training for medical professionals, and setting national clinical standards. The Center will also oversee accreditation systems, audit healthcare providers, and manage the evaluation of medical personnel. Additionally, the legislation includes an amendment to the General Healthcare System (GeSY) law to transfer the Pharmaceutical Advisory Committee to the new center. The Center will also consult with the Health Insurance Organization regarding the integration of pharmaceutical protocols and medical equipment into the national healthcare system. President Nikos Christodoulides noted that this project was a key campaign promise for the 2025 government agenda aimed at reforming the national health sector.
