Ayia Napa Triathlon takes place in Cyprus with 468 international athletes

The 12th annual Ayia Napa Triathlon was held on March 21 and 22, featuring 468 athletes from 25 countries. The event, organized by Nireas Triathlon, offered three race distances: Middle Distance, Olympic, and Sprint Triathlon. Athletes competed in swimming at Nissi Beach, cycling toward Cape Greco, and running toward the Ayia Thekla area, concluding at the Nissi Beach Resort. While the event proceeded successfully, there is a discrepancy in reports regarding the swimming portion. Official statements from the Ayia Napa municipality describe a full event, while other reports indicate that the Ayia Napa Swim scheduled for Saturday, March 21, was canceled due to adverse weather conditions. Mayor Christos Zannettou noted that the event reinforces the city’s international standing as a safe and reliable athletic destination. The competition received support from various sponsors, including Alion Beach Hotel and international partners like Kmita Club and Savage of Sevan.
