Omonia celebrates its 22nd football championship title
Omonia Nicosia has officially secured its 22nd football championship title after a 3-0 victory against Aris on May 2, 2026, four matchdays before the season's end. The club currently holds a 16-point lead over its rivals. Celebrations took place at the GSP Stadium and in central Nicosia. Team officials, including spokesperson Andreas Dimitriou, confirmed that the trophy award ceremony is scheduled for the upcoming match against AEK Larnaca this Sunday, while a formal victory party may be held on a separate date due to technical requirements. Regarding infrastructure, the club has acquired approximately 200,000 square meters of land for a new private stadium and has made upgrades to the Ilias Poullos training facility. Preparations for the new season begin on June 22, with a training camp planned in Poland. Meanwhile, rival club APOEL Nicosia is undergoing a financial restructuring, reporting debts of over 39 million euros and losses totaling 32.6 million euros over the last six years, with a reduced budget of 15.2 million euros for 2025.
