Pentagon considers redirecting weapons from Ukraine to the Middle East
The Pentagon is currently evaluating the potential redirection of military supplies, originally intended for Ukraine, toward the Middle East. This strategic shift is being considered as the ongoing conflict in Iran places significant strain on U.S. munitions stockpiles. Reports indicate that air defense interceptor missiles, acquired through a NATO initiative known as the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL), are among the items under review. Admiral Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, stated that U.S. forces have engaged over 10,000 targets within Iran to limit the country's regional power projection. A Pentagon spokesperson emphasized the commitment to ensuring that U.S. forces and their allies have the necessary equipment to operate effectively. Conversely, a NATO spokesperson maintained that all weapons purchased under the PURL initiative have already been delivered or remain in transit to Ukraine. Both the U.S. State Department and the Pentagon have declined immediate comment on these reports.
