Limassol announces the 27th Lemesia sports event for 2026
Limassol Mayor Yiannis Armeftis officially announced the 27th edition of the Lemesia sports festival during a press conference at the Panos Solomonidis Municipal Cultural Centre. The event, described by the head of the Youth and Sports Committee Loizos Mavroudis as the largest sporting event in Cyprus, will take place throughout 2026. The program spans from March to December, aiming to promote active lifestyles and urban development. Sources differ slightly on the volume of events, with reports citing both over 48 and approximately 50 scheduled sports activities. Mayor Armeftis emphasized that the city is committed to upgrading local sports infrastructure and providing inclusive opportunities for youth and all citizens. The initiative involves collaborations with sports clubs, federations, and the Ministry of Education. This long-term project reflects the city's broader strategy to modernize its urban environment through investments in athletics and human capital.
