Police rescue sleeping man from fire in Oroklini
At approximately 9:15 a.m. today, police officers on patrol in the Oroklini area of Larnaca noticed a fire at a private residence. The blaze originated from a car parked in the yard belonging to a 71-year-old man, reportedly due to a short circuit in a charging device connected to the vehicle's battery. The fire spread to two other vehicles belonging to the 71-year-old owner and his 68-year-old relative. Officers entered the house through a window and located a 36-year-old man sleeping on the second floor who was unaware of the fire. The fire was subsequently extinguished by the Fire Service. The incident resulted in the total destruction of the three vehicles and extensive damage to the kitchen, living room, and a first-floor bedroom of the residence. The Oroklini Police Station is continuing its investigation into the incident.
