Cyprus prepares for parliamentary elections on 24 May 2026

The Ministry of Interior of Cyprus has launched a dedicated website to provide information for the parliamentary elections scheduled for 24 May 2026. Citizens aged 18 and over who have resided in Cyprus for at least six months, including Turkish Cypriots with valid Republic of Cyprus identification, are eligible to register by the deadline of 2 April. Applications can be submitted electronically until midnight on 2 April, or in person at District Administration Offices and Citizen Service Centres, which will extend their hours on the final day. Parliament is set to be dissolved on 23 April, followed by the official proclamation on 24 April and candidate submission on 6 May. The election will determine 56 of the 80 seats in the House of Representatives via an open list proportional representation system across six constituencies. The remaining 24 seats reserved for Turkish Cypriots have been vacant since 1963. The upgraded online portal offers guidance on voting procedures and registration for voters located abroad.
