Deputy Minister of Tourism reports recovery in bookings after geopolitical tensions
On Thursday, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis addressed the annual General Assembly of the Pancyprian Association of Hotel Managers at the CCCI building. He stated that the tourism sector experienced a 20-day decline in bookings due to recent geopolitical tensions in the region. Koumis emphasized that the government acted immediately to protect Cyprus's reputation as a safe destination. During the ITB tourism exhibition in Berlin, officials met with strategic partners to confirm that the country remains safe. Following these discussions, partners decided to reinstate all flight schedules to the island. The government is also implementing measures regarding tourism sector employment to support the industry. Koumis reiterated that Cyprus is located far from the conflict zones. He noted that despite initial concerns from partners, trust in the destination has been restored.
