The FIDE Candidates Tournament 2026 is scheduled to take place at the Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort in Pegeia, Paphos, Cyprus. The event will run from March 28 to April 16, 2026. The competition features both an Open and a Women's category, with the first round of matches beginning on March 29. Live coverage of the games will be available via the official tournament website starting at 16:30 local time. Participants in the Open section include players such as Javokhir Sindarov, Andrey Esipenko, Fabiano Caruana, and Hikaru Nakamura. The Women's section features competitors including Aleksandra Goryachkina, Kateryna Lagno, and Anna Muzychuk. A dedicated outdoor fan zone will operate throughout the event to host daily activities for spectators. This is the first time Cyprus is hosting this specific international chess championship.
