Department of Agriculture opens damage claims for storm-affected areas

The Department of Agriculture has announced that it is accepting damage claims following windstorms that occurred in March 2026. A storm on March 15 affected potato crops in the communities of Xylofagou, Ormideia, and Pervolia, as well as livestock facilities in Ormideia and Liopetri. Additionally, farmers affected by windstorms on March 14–15 in the Famagusta district may submit claims for damages to vegetable crops, strawberries, and greenhouses. Claimants must submit the designated damage declaration form to the relevant provincial agricultural offices. The deadline for submissions is April 9, 2026, for the Larnaca District Agricultural Office and April 7, 2026, for the Famagusta District Agricultural Office. Forms are available at the Larnaca office or on the Department of Agriculture's website.
