Investigation into suspicious football matches and potential incompatibility in Cyprus

The Cyprus Committee for Ethics and Sports Protection is investigating four football matches suspected of irregular betting activity. The matches under scrutiny include Karmiotissa vs. Agia Napa, reported by the Cyprus Football Association (CFA), as well as Agia Napa vs. MEAP and Spartakos vs. Ethnikos Latsion, flagged by the Betting Authority. A fourth match, Agia Napa vs. ASIL, is subject to an ex officio investigation by the committee. Committee member Nikolas Konstantinou confirmed that independent investigators have been appointed to handle these cases. Additionally, the committee is preparing to launch a platform for anonymous reporting to improve information gathering. Investigations into issues of professional incompatibility in other sports are also expected to be announced shortly. Officials stated that these are the first such notifications received during the current year.
