Bulgarian contestant performs tribute to Vasilis Karras

Boris Hristov, a musician and former finalist of the Bulgarian version of The Voice, impersonated late Greek singer Vasilis Karras on the show Your Face Sounds Familiar. Hristov performed the song 'Fainomeno' while adopting the appearance and vocal style of the singer, who passed away on December 24, 2023. The performance included the iconic phrase 'Kalispera kai kali vradia,' which Hristov used to introduce his act. The studio audience responded with applause and traditional flower-throwing, a custom common in Greek live music venues. The performance went viral on social media platforms like TikTok, with mixed reactions from viewers. While many praised the vocal resemblance and the effort to master the Greek pronunciation, others argued that Karras's unique style cannot be replicated, with some critical comments comparing the look to a fictional villain. Vasilis Karras maintained a significant following in Bulgaria, highlighted by his 2017 concert at the Arena Armeec in Sofia which drew approximately 17,000 people.
