German actress Collien Fernandes accuses ex-partner Christian Ulmen of deepfake distribution
German actress and presenter Collien Fernandes has accused her former partner, actor Christian Ulmen, of creating and distributing non-consensual deepfake pornography featuring her likeness. Beyond the deepfake allegations, Fernandes has accused Ulmen of impersonating her in online communications with other men and of physical abuse. The scandal was brought to public attention through a report by Der Spiegel magazine. Despite being aware of the existence of the deepfake content for some time, Fernandes only recently identified Ulmen as the alleged source. The actress chose to report these allegations to authorities in Spain, where she maintains a residence, citing concerns over the limitations of German law regarding such offenses. In response to the growing public outcry, German Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig has announced plans to seek stricter legislation against the production and distribution of deepfake material. The case has ignited a wider debate in Germany concerning the legal challenges posed by artificial intelligence and digital violence.
