Apollon secures victory against APOEL at GSP stadium
Apollon Limassol defeated APOEL Nicosia 3-2 in a league match held at the GSP Stadium on April 14. APOEL’s defensive struggles were highlighted by the team conceding three goals for the second time this season, following a previous 2-3 defeat to Ethnikos on February 15. Although APOEL managed to equalize twice during the game, they failed to maintain defensive stability, leading to a loss that complicates their pursuit of a European qualification spot. Apollon's spokesperson Fanourios Konstantinou stated that the win rewards the team's recent improved performances, while emphasizing the need to remain focused on seasonal objectives. APOEL manager Pablo Garcia expressed disappointment in the team's defensive errors, noting that the outcome serves as a setback in their league campaign. The two clubs are also set to face each other in the upcoming semi-finals of the Cypriot Cup. APOEL defender Konstantinos Laifis returned to the pitch after a five-week absence, though his contribution was not enough to secure a result.
