Apollon secures 4-2 lead over Apoel in first leg of cup semi-final
Apollon defeated Apoel 4-2 at the Alphamega Stadium in the first leg of the Cyprus Cup semi-finals. Brandon Tomas played a key role for Apollon, contributing to three goals in the first half: inducing an own goal by Stafylidis in the 10th minute, scoring in the 33rd, and providing an assist to Marques in the 38th minute. Apoel managed a temporary goal through Mancini in the 23rd minute, and Olayinka reduced the lead to 3-2 in the 86th minute. However, Assuncao scored a long-range goal in the 88th minute to restore Apollon's two-goal advantage. Following this loss, the position of Apoel manager Pablo Garcia is under review by the club's administration due to defensive failures and the coach's behavior after the match. The return leg is scheduled for April 29th at the GSP Stadium, where the winner will face Pafos FC in the final.
