APOEL launches crowdfunding campaign to secure financial stability
On March 30, 2026, APOEL football club, led by President Charis Fotiou, officially launched a crowdfunding platform to address urgent financial obligations. The club faces a critical requirement of 5.5 million euros to complete the current football season, amid a total reported debt of 39 million euros. As of March 31, the campaign has successfully raised over 100,000 euros, with the largest single donation of 10,000 euros provided by the Pan-Cypriot Fan Club (PAN.SY.FI). Nektarios Petevinos, the club's press spokesperson, clarified that the platform is only one component of a broader recovery plan. President Fotiou has announced a nationwide tour to engage with supporters and convince wealthy donors to support the club's long-term restructuring. Shares previously held by the president have been transferred to a trust managed by four individuals to ensure transparent governance. Officials emphasized that there are currently no active investors or buyout offers, making community support the primary immediate funding source.
