Cyprus Fire Service responds to weather-related emergencies in Limassol

Between 06:00 on March 25 and 06:00 on March 26, 2026, the Cyprus Fire Service responded to 26 emergency calls, five of which were directly related to severe weather conditions. In the Limassol district, specifically in the area from Ypsonas to Agios Sylas, intense rainfall caused a local tributary to overflow. This resulted in flooded roads and water accumulation in several properties starting at 14:15. Fire crews from Limassol stations deployed three units to perform water pumping operations from basements and to rescue a person from a vehicle trapped on a flooded road. Additionally, municipal teams from Polemidia cleared storm drains to address water accumulation on the roadways. Beyond the weather-related incidents, the Fire Service's total daily response included 13 fire-related calls, 11 special service requests, and two false alarms.
