Police conduct nationwide security operations with nine arrests

Cypriot police carried out coordinated security patrols and checks across the country during an overnight operation. Conflicting reports emerged regarding the outcomes, with some sources citing two arrests for domestic violence and harassment, while official updates later confirmed nine arrests for various crimes, including attempted property damage with explosives and driving under the influence. Officers stopped 639 vehicles and examined 983 individuals, while conducting 23 inspections of business premises. Traffic enforcement resulted in 315 citations, three of which were for drunk driving out of 90 alcohol tests performed. Authorities also impounded nine vehicles during the operation. Police stated that these actions are part of ongoing efforts to prevent criminal activity and maintain public order.
