Police conduct nationwide security operations in Cyprus
Cypriot police conducted nationwide security operations to prevent crime and maintain public order. Reports from various sources contain conflicting data regarding the scale of the operations. Earlier reports indicated 20 arrests for offenses such as fighting, knife possession, malicious damage, attempted theft, and illegal stay. Later reports reduced the figure to 12 arrests for theft, public disturbance, and drug-related offenses. Depending on the report, police stopped between 488 and 493 vehicles and checked 651 to 715 individuals. Traffic enforcement led to either 186 or 234 violations, with speeding counts ranging from 50 to 87 cases. Alcohol tests recorded between 8 and 17 positive results, and drug tests resulted in either 3 or 6 positive cases. Police impounded between 9 and 10 vehicles during these coordinated patrols.
