Police conduct nationwide security operations and traffic enforcement
Cypriot police conducted a series of coordinated, nationwide security operations targeting crime prevention and public order. Initial reports presented conflicting figures, but final verified data confirms that 947 vehicles were stopped and 1,225 individuals were checked. During these operations, 12 people were arrested for various offenses, including attempted arson, assault causing grievous bodily harm, driving under the influence, and illegal residency. Officers performed 48 checks on commercial establishments, resulting in 9 reports for operational license violations. Traffic enforcement was a primary focus, yielding 517 total citations, of which 232 were for speeding. Furthermore, police conducted 320 alcohol tests, identifying 35 positive cases, while 2 individuals tested positive for drugs. As a result of these investigations, 24 vehicles were seized. Authorities stated these operations are part of a daily effort to enhance public safety and maintain order.
