Police conduct nationwide security operations and make arrests
Cypriot police conducted a series of targeted, nationwide preventive operations across urban areas to maintain public order. Reports from different sources provide varying figures regarding the scale of these actions. Some reports indicate 356 vehicles were checked with 469 individuals screened, resulting in seven arrests for offenses including knife possession, assault, and disturbing the peace. Other official reports mention 112 drivers and 33 passengers were checked, leading to six arrests for charges including illegal residency, outstanding court warrants, and assault on police officers. Traffic enforcement resulted in either 124 violations, including 43 for speeding, or 32 violations with 9 for speeding, depending on the source. Additionally, between 30 and 124 alcohol tests were conducted, with one to three drivers testing positive. Authorities also seized between one and five vehicles and conducted between 14 and 51 inspections of commercial establishments.
