Cyprus police conduct nationwide security operations and arrests
Cypriot police conducted nationwide preventive operations during the Easter period to ensure public order. Reports from different sources distinguish between activities on Holy Friday and Easter Sunday. On Holy Friday, police arrested two individuals for the illegal possession and transport of explosives. During that operation, officers checked 242 vehicles and 351 people, issuing 82 traffic citations, including 19 for speeding. Furthermore, 59 alcohol tests resulted in five positive drivers, while six people tested positive for drug use. On Easter Sunday, police arrested one person for conspiracy to commit a felony and malicious damage, while checking 288 vehicles and 408 individuals. In total, 23 establishments were inspected on Sunday, compared to 28 on Friday, and several vehicles were seized throughout the operations.
