Cyprus police conduct nationwide crime prevention operations
Cypriot authorities conducted a series of coordinated, nationwide police operations on Wednesday night aimed at preventing criminal activity and maintaining public order. Reports from different sources provide varying figures regarding the scale of the operation. Some reports state eight arrests were made for offenses including assault, illegal possession of explosives, and traffic violations, while other sources indicate seven arrests for crimes such as assault on a police officer, theft, and rioting. Regarding vehicle checks, some sources report 762 vehicles and 985 people checked, whereas others report 852 drivers and passengers stopped. Police performed between 34 and 40 inspections of premises, resulting in either one or five citations. Traffic enforcement led to either 227 or 368 complaints, with speeding violations ranging from 78 to 124 cases. Additionally, authorities seized between 9 and 48 vehicles during the checks. Alcohol and drug tests were also conducted, though the specific number of violations varies between the reporting sources.
