Meteorological department issues yellow weather warning for Cyprus
The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for Cyprus, effective between 13:30 and 17:00. The forecast indicates the development of local rain and isolated thunderstorms, particularly affecting mountainous regions, the interior, and southern and eastern coastal areas. There is an increased probability of hail during these storms. Winds are expected to be light to moderate, reaching force 4 or 5 on the Beaufort scale in coastal areas. Temperatures will range from approximately 20 degrees in inland and coastal areas to 10 degrees in the mountains, with potential frost in the higher peaks of Troodos at night. Authorities have advised drivers to exercise caution due to water accumulation on roads, including the Nicosia-Limassol and Limassol-Paphos highways. This weather instability, caused by low pressure, is expected to persist through the beginning of Holy Week, though atmospheric dust levels are gradually subsiding.
