Two arrests made following separate explosion incidents in Limassol
Two separate criminal acts involving explosives occurred in Limassol, leading to police investigations and arrests. In the first incident at 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, a low-power improvised explosive device was detonated at a flower shop in Polemidia, owned by a 49-year-old woman, causing damage to the storefront and two parked vehicles. Separately, police arrested two men, aged 19 and 21, in connection with an explosion at a restaurant owned by a 40-year-old Russian businessman near the old port. That explosion took place on Tuesday, March 24, at 5:00 a.m., involving a pipe-type device that caused extensive damage to the establishment. This incident marks the third time the businessman's properties have been targeted in recent months. The suspects in the restaurant case are awaiting a court hearing for their detention, while investigations into both incidents remain ongoing by the Limassol CID. Police are evaluating evidence to determine if the attacks against the businessman are linked to extortion or demands for 'protection'.
