Escalating military conflict continues across the Middle East
As of March 26, 2026, intense fighting continues across the Middle East, involving Israel, Iran, the United States, and Lebanese Hezbollah. Israel reports the deaths of 700 Hezbollah fighters since March 2 and has expressed intentions to maintain a security zone in southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, which Hezbollah characterizes as occupation. Iran claims to have targeted strategic facilities in Haifa and Dimona, while reporting attacks on US bases and the alleged destruction of a US F-18 fighter jet. The US denies these claims, asserting that it has targeted over 10,000 military sites in Iran and destroyed much of its naval capacity. Meanwhile, the UAE reported intercepting 15 ballistic missiles and 11 drones, with falling debris resulting in two deaths in Abu Dhabi. Iran also attacked targets in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. US forces maintain that the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln remains operational despite Iranian reports of damage. There are no signs of de-escalation as both sides exchange heavy fire.
