Weather forecast for Cyprus through the weekend
Cyprus is currently under the influence of a weak low-pressure system, resulting in temperatures reaching up to 29 degrees Celsius in inland areas. While the weather is generally clear, localized cloud cover is expected in the afternoons, potentially leading to isolated showers or thunderstorms, primarily in mountainous regions. Atmospheric dust may appear in some areas starting from Friday. Winds are expected to range from 3 to 4 Beaufort, with the sea remaining calm to slightly rough. On Sunday, a cold air mass originating from Siberia is predicted to move across the region, causing a noticeable drop in temperatures and increasing the risk of rain, thunderstorms, and stronger winds. Analyst Tasos Ierodiakonou noted that the season is entering a period of instability where typical May weather can include sudden precipitation. Additionally, recent weather phenomena near Nicosia were identified as either a tornado or a funnel cloud depending on whether they touched the ground or water.
