Cyprus weather forecast indicates unstable conditions and scattered thunderstorms

The Department of Meteorology has issued a forecast for weak low pressure and unstable air masses affecting Cyprus throughout the upcoming Holy Week. Current conditions feature scattered clouds with localized rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the interior, mountains, and southeastern regions. In some areas, storms may be accompanied by hail. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly below average, with highs around 21 degrees Celsius in inland areas and coastal regions, and around 11 degrees in the higher mountains. Nighttime temperatures will drop significantly, reaching as low as 2 degrees Celsius in the mountains, where localized frost is expected. Winds will generally blow from a southwesterly to northwesterly direction at 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 5 Beaufort in coastal areas during the afternoon. The sea will be slightly choppy, becoming calmer at night. While forecasts across sources show minor discrepancies regarding specific timing and local variations, all indicate persistent instability through Holy Wednesday, followed by a slight rise in temperature.
