Cyprus weather forecast: Changing conditions with rain and potential snow
The Department of Meteorology reports that Cyprus is currently under the influence of weak low pressure, which will transition to a more significant low-pressure system accompanied by a relatively cold air mass starting Sunday. Following generally clear conditions today, with localized rain or storms expected mainly in mountainous areas, the weather will turn increasingly cloudy over the weekend. Thin dust is expected to linger in the atmosphere throughout the weekend. Temperatures will drop significantly starting Sunday, falling below seasonal averages. From Saturday night through Tuesday, local rains and isolated thunderstorms are predicted across the country. There is also a possibility of sleet or snow on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains by the beginning of the week. Winds will generally remain light to moderate, reaching up to 4-5 Beaufort along the coast today.
