The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for the island effective on May 3, 2026. Official reports vary on the duration, with some sources stating the warning is in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while others suggest it extends into Monday morning. The forecast predicts isolated strong thunderstorms, occasional hail, and strong winds reaching force seven on the Beaufort scale. Rainfall intensity is expected to exceed 35 millimeters per hour in some areas. Additionally, light dust is present in the atmosphere, and snowfall or sleet is anticipated on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains. Temperatures are forecast to reach 19 degrees Celsius in inland and coastal areas, dropping to 10 degrees in the mountains. Unsettled weather conditions are expected to persist until Monday, followed by a slight improvement on Tuesday as higher pressure returns.
