Widespread power outages reported across Cyprus

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 25, multiple regions across Cyprus experienced electricity supply disruptions. Christina Papadopoulou, spokesperson for the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), confirmed that the outages were caused by a technical fault within the power generation system. The impact of the malfunction was reported to be nationwide. EAC maintenance crews were deployed immediately to identify and repair the issue. Authorities initially estimated that the restoration of power would take approximately 30 minutes. Some reports indicated an expected restoration time of 19:40 local time. Normal service was anticipated to resume shortly after these reports were issued.
