Widespread power outages across Cyprus and scheduled maintenance in Limassol and Paphos

On March 25, 2026, a significant power outage occurred across Cyprus due to a technical failure in the electricity production system. Christina Papadopoulou, spokesperson for the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), confirmed the incident occurred in the evening, with electricity restored by approximately 19:40. Additionally, the EAC announced a separate, scheduled power interruption for maintenance and grid expansion work on March 31, 2026. This scheduled maintenance will take place between 08:00 and 14:00. The affected areas include parts of Kato Platres, Omodos, Mandria, Vasa Koilaniou, Malia, Kissousa, Potamiou, Arsos, Praitori, Mesana, Arminou, Filousa Kelokedaron, Kedares, Salamiou, Agios Ioannis Paphos, and Agios Nikolaos. The authority warned residents in these areas to treat electrical installations as live throughout the specified timeframe. No injuries or major damages were reported in relation to the March 25 system failure.
