Two women dead and one man injured in house explosion in Volos
On March 25, an explosion and subsequent fire occurred at a residence in the Agia Paraskevi district of Volos, located on Astypalaias Street. The incident, which took place shortly before 16:00, resulted in the deaths of two women, aged approximately 80 and 60, who were mother and daughter. A 39-year-old man, identified as the son of the 60-year-old victim (though another report suggests grandson of the 80-year-old), was hospitalized with severe burns. Emergency services, including 16 firefighters and 6 vehicles, were deployed to the scene to extinguish the blaze and assist in the rescue operation. While initial estimates suggest the explosion was caused by an LPG stove, authorities are still investigating the exact cause. The injured man remains in critical condition, and doctors are evaluating his transfer to a specialized burn center. Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy.
