Church of Panagia Faneromeni donates embassy building to Greece
On Wednesday, the Church of Panagia Faneromeni in Nicosia announced the donation of the building currently housing the Greek Embassy to the Greek state. The announcement was made by Chrysostomos Chrysostomou, President of the Church Committee, during a Doxology service held for the March 25th national holiday. The decision followed a formal suggestion and request by Archbishop George of Cyprus. The ceremony was attended by Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Greek Ambassador to Nicosia, Konstantinos Kollias. Officials stated the donation is intended as an act of historical recognition towards Greece. Ambassador Kollias thanked the Church of Cyprus for the contribution and confirmed that the property on Byron Avenue will continue to be used by the Greek Embassy. No further legal or administrative timeline for the transfer was specified.
