Turkey and the UK sign support agreement for Eurofighter Typhoon jets
On Wednesday in London, Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler and UK Defense Secretary John Healey signed an agreement concerning the technical and logistical support for Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft. This deal follows a previous contract signed in October 2025 for the procurement of 20 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, associated equipment, and ammunition. The agreement is intended to ensure the long-term operational readiness and maintenance of the fleet. These jets are part of Turkey's broader strategy to modernize its air force, as existing F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft are expected to be phased out starting in the 2030s. Some reports describe the arrangement as a multi-billion dollar acquisition deal, while the official Turkish statements emphasize the technical and logistical support aspects. This procurement effort follows Turkey's shift toward alternative suppliers after previous challenges regarding advanced fighter jet acquisition. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation during the talks.
