Severe weather conditions disrupt traffic across Cyprus
On Wednesday afternoon, heavy rain and snow caused widespread traffic disruptions across Cyprus. Flooding was reported on the Limassol-Paphos motorway, with significant water accumulation near Limassol, Pissouri, and Kouklia. A stream near the Agios Silas exit burst its banks, affecting both sides of the highway and reducing driver visibility. Simultaneously, the Troodos mountains experienced heavy snowfall and dense fog. Authorities restricted access on roads leading from Troodos Square to the peak and the Prodromos-Troodos road, allowing only vehicles with four-wheel drive or snow chains. Police have urged all drivers to proceed with caution, reduce speeds, maintain safe distances, and keep headlights on throughout their journeys.
