Cyprus national U-17 and U-19 football teams begin European championship qualifiers

The Cyprus U-17 national team, coached by Michalis Markou, begins its second-round European Championship campaign today against Serbia in Pancevo at 18:00. The group also includes Switzerland and Belgium, with the winner advancing to the 2026 UEFA U-17 EURO finals. Concurrently, the Cyprus U-19 national team, led by Valentinos Koulountis, plays its opening match in the first round of the 2026-2027 European Championship against Belgium at 20:00 local time in Tubize. The U-19 group consists of Cyprus, Belgium, Slovenia, and Sweden, with the last-placed team facing relegation to League B. Both squads consist of players from various Cypriot clubs, as well as several athletes playing for international teams like AEK Athens, Valencia, and West Bromwich Albion. Match schedules for both tournaments are set to conclude on March 31. These fixtures represent official UEFA qualification processes for the upcoming continental youth tournaments.
