Russian drone strikes disrupt power supply in northern Ukraine
Russian forces launched 147 drones at Ukraine overnight, with the Ukrainian Air Force reporting the interception of 121 of them. The attacks damaged energy facilities in the northern Chernihiv region, resulting in power outages for approximately 212,000 consumers. Specifically, 150,000 residents in Chernihiv and its surrounding district lost electricity, while another 62,000 consumers in the Nizhynskyi district were affected. Additionally, approximately 21,000 residents in Slavutych, located in the neighboring Kyiv region, experienced temporary power loss. Regional authorities confirmed that critical infrastructure has been switched to backup power supplies following the strikes. These events follow a pattern of mutual targeting of energy infrastructure throughout the conflict, including Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries and depots.
