President Christodoulides to meet Tufan Erhürman on April 6 to discuss Cyprus problem

President Nikos Christodoulides has announced a meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman scheduled for Monday, April 6. The primary objective of this session is to exchange views on discussions held between President Christodoulides and the UN Secretary-General regarding the resumption of negotiations for a solution to the Cyprus problem. Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis emphasized that the Greek Cypriot side maintains a firm commitment to achieving progress through a process leading to meaningful, result-oriented negotiations. During the meeting, the President remains open to discussing any additional topics raised by the Turkish Cypriot side. Separately, President Christodoulides addressed complaints from Turkish Cypriots regarding access to the Hala Sultan Tekke mosque in Larnaca. He stated that established UN-coordinated procedures were in place for such visits and suggested that certain elements within the community intentionally obstructed the process. Additionally, the President confirmed that journalist Makarios Drousiotis has been summoned by police for questioning regarding his allegations, with the Cabinet to be briefed on the matter by the Minister of Justice.
