Students from Athens travel to Gavdos for the March 25th parade

On March 25th, students from the 1st Primary School of Voula and four other schools in Attica traveled to the island of Gavdos to celebrate the Greek national holiday. The initiative, part of a program titled "Where there are angels" launched in 2023, aims to connect students with remote regions of Greece. The school on Gavdos is currently suspended as the island has no remaining students following the departure of its last pupil. Initially planned as a support mission for that student, the initiative transformed into a representative celebration of the island’s history and residents. Students participated in the parade wearing traditional costumes from regions including Pontus, Smyrna, and Constantinople. The project’s organizer, Georgios Ntoutsoulis, stated that the goal is to promote values of community and responsibility rather than remote interaction. The delegation also engaged with local residents to better understand daily life on the island.
