Pafos FC defeats AEL Limassol 2-1 in the first leg of the Cyprus Cup semifinal
Pafos FC secured a 2-1 victory over AEL Limassol at the Alphamega Stadium in the first leg of the Cyprus Cup semifinals. Pafos took an early lead following a penalty kick and extended it to 2-0 by the 37th minute. AEL managed to reduce the deficit with a goal by Savo during first-half stoppage time. Despite the loss, AEL showed improved performance in the second half, coming close to an equalizer when Milosavljevic hit the post. AEL manager Hugo Martins expressed confidence in his team's ability to overturn the result in the second leg, scheduled for April 22 at the Stelios Kyriakides Stadium. Player Nemanja Glavcic also maintained optimism regarding the team's chances of reaching the final. AEL, which currently sits outside the top six in the league, views the cup as its primary path to European qualification.
