Andrew Georgiou sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his wife
On November 2, 2024, 45-year-old delivery driver Andrew Georgiou murdered his 42-year-old wife, Carol Georgiou, at their home in Milton Keynes, England. After an evening out where the couple discussed their impending divorce, Georgiou held his wife underwater in their garden hot tub until she drowned. Following the crime, Georgiou removed security cameras from the property and waited 40 minutes before calling emergency services. Initially, he claimed she died of natural causes, but he later pleaded guilty in late 2025. Judge Jonathan Cooper sentenced Georgiou to life imprisonment, noting he must serve a minimum of 15 to 16.5 years before parole eligibility. Prosecutors stated the motive was Georgiou's inability to accept the end of their 19-year marriage and his wife's infidelity. The couple had two adult sons. The court highlighted the brutality of the act and the opportunity the defendant had to stop during the struggle.
