United States and Iran to hold negotiations in Pakistan following ceasefire agreement
The United States and Iran have agreed to a two-week ceasefire, with negotiations scheduled to begin this Friday in Pakistan. The U.S. delegation will include Vance, Witkoff, and Kushner. While the White House rejected an initial 10-point Iranian proposal, both sides are now working from a modified 15-point framework. A key U.S. demand remains the total cessation of Iran's uranium enrichment program. The ceasefire does not cover Israeli military operations in Lebanon, where recent strikes have resulted in over 89 deaths and 722 injuries. Iran has warned it may withdraw from the ceasefire if Israeli attacks on Hezbollah continue. Pakistan served as the primary mediator, supported by last-minute diplomatic pressure from China. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei approved the participation in these talks.
