Recent law enforcement actions against drug-related crimes in Cyprus
Cypriot authorities have conducted several operations related to drug trafficking. The Famagusta Assize Court sentenced a 49-year-old man to seven years in prison on October 19, 2025, after finding him guilty of possessing 860 grams of cannabis and 270 grams of cocaine. In Nicosia, a 41-year-old man was arrested after a parcel containing approximately seven kilograms of cannabis arrived in Cyprus via a courier company in February. The suspect, whose home was searched, remains in custody pending a detention order from the Nicosia District Court. Separately, in Larnaca, police arrested a 34-year-old man on Tuesday night for possessing 359 grams of cocaine, two grams of cannabis resin, precision scales, and 1,115 euros. The Larnaca court issued an eight-day remand order for him. During the same Larnaca operation, a 31-year-old man was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for a theft and malicious damage case involving stolen air-conditioning units from a Nicosia shop in March 2026. All cases are currently under active police investigation.
