Recent drug-related arrests and convictions in Cyprus

Cypriot authorities have conducted several anti-drug operations resulting in multiple convictions and arrests across the island. In Paphos, a 35-year-old and a 19-year-old were sentenced to three-and-a-half and two-and-a-half years in prison, respectively, for possessing 62 grams of cannabis and 15 grams of cocaine. In the Famagusta district, a 49-year-old man received a seven-year prison sentence after 860 grams of cannabis and 270 grams of cocaine were discovered in his home on October 19, 2025. In Nicosia, a 41-year-old man was arrested following the importation of approximately seven kilograms of cannabis via courier service in February. Additionally, a 34-year-old was remanded for eight days in Larnaca after police seized 359 grams of cocaine and two grams of cannabis resin. During the same Larnaca operation, a 31-year-old was also arrested on an outstanding warrant related to a theft in Nicosia. All operations were carried out by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN).
