Yiannos Okkas appointed new manager of Akritas Chlorakas
Akritas Chlorakas has appointed Yiannos Okkas as their new head coach following the resignation of Marios Nikolaou. Nikolaou stepped down on March 26, 2026, after a heated disagreement regarding the team's performance and events following a match against Anorthosis. Alongside the head coach, the club's press officer, Vasilis Charalambous, also resigned, alleging a lack of transparency within the leadership. President Vasos Theodorou confirmed the events, noting that the disagreement escalated before a scheduled training session. Okkas, who has been without a club since November 2024, is tasked with keeping the team in the top division. His first game in charge is scheduled for April 6, 2026, against ENY. The club management views his appointment as a strategic move to leverage his experience in Cypriot football to improve the team's performance during the remainder of the season.
